News and Updates

Great news: I have been accepted to
the Master of Music in Choral Conducting program at the Yale Institute
of Sacred Music, and I'll be leaving Miami, FL for New Haven, CT in the
middle of August 2010. This is a very exciting step for me, and an
incredible opportunity. I'll be leaving behind great friends and fond
memories, but I promise to come back and visit. The website will still be here, though, and I'm thinking of giving it a brand new look for the next stage of my musical journey.

You can now listen live to selections of my organ playing. More will be added soon. Just go to the listen page and enjoy! In other news, the Anglican Chorale
is going from strength to strength - membership is healthy and
increasing, and we will continue to sing Evensong throughout the summer
months here in Miami. Below is a flyer with more information:

Happy
New Year, everyone! The Anglican Chorale
has an exciting programme for 2009, beginning with a very special
Eucharist to celebrate the Bishop of South Florida's 25th anniversary
of ordination. This service will be attended by The Most Revd Katharine
Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, and will
be held at Trinity Cathedral, Miami.
Starting in February, Choral Evensong will be sung twice, rather than
once, a month. As always, all are welcome to attend.

Please
visit my new page dedicated to the Anglican Chorale of South Florida,
co-directed by myself and Matthew Steynor. If you are a singer with a
love of Anglican Choral Music, then you are very welcome to join!
At this point, Sopranos and Altos are particularly needed.

On
Monday September 15 at 8pm, I will begiving
a recital of English Organ Music at St. Thomas
- all are very welcome to
attend. The
program will be very listenable and not too 'difficult' for those not
used to organ music. It would be great to see you there!

The
site is now completely up and running, with
a rudimentary Links page, and sound files on the Compositions and Concerts pages. If there are
any browser viewing problems, please let me know.

A couple of pages are
still under construction, so do not
be deterred; they will be up and running very soon!

www.simon-jacobs.com
is now online! Any suggestions regarding improvements to the site will
be gratefully appreciated. I had a go at designing it myself, with very
little prior experience, so please excuse any web-design-related faux pas, of which
I'm probably not aware!
